Joe Farewell, of Farewell Firearms Training, launched his law enforcement career in 2007 as a volunteer for the Lake Wales Police Department (FL). After graduating the academy in 2011 he started as a patrol officer for the Winter Haven Police Department.
Farewell tried out for the department’s Emergency Response Team as soon as he was eligible, was accepted in 2014, and graduated from the Polk County SWAT School. In addition to his role on the entry team, he later took over the sniper team leader position.
Joe spent most of his time at WHPD assigned to the Tactical Patrol Unit and Special Investigations Unit. He spent 3 years assigned as a TFO to the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and led the department’s Gang Suppression Unit. Joe was also a general and firearms instructor for the department and the Emergency Response Team.
For over 10 years Joe has been an avid competitor in USPSA and 3-Gun. In 2019 he was selected to represent the USA at the IPSC Rifle World Shoot in the Semi-Auto Open Division where he took home a hard fought silver medal with Team USA. He is dedicated to constant self-improvement and encouraging others to build their skills. Other notable finishes include the 2019 3 Gun Nation National Champion (both practical and 2 gun divisions) and multiple Area, Regional, and State champion titles.
In 2016 Joe started Farewell Firearms Training and offers instruction for all shooters, from novice to advanced. He has provided training for the Special Operations community, Law Enforcement, and instructors of all levels. He has also created online learning platforms for competitive shooters, tactical shooters, and new gun owners.
With his background in law enforcement and experience at the top tier of competition, Joe has a well-rounded and practical approach to firearms training.
Education is top priority for Farewell Firearms. We’ve built our brand on the idea that as a shooter, you’ll always have room for improvement. Our goal is to help you not only meet your goals, but to surpass them.
In addition to being safe and ensuring that learning is always occurring, there are 3 core principles I like to embrace during training, competing, and instructing.
